A charter plane for Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance, known as “Trump Force Two,” had to make an emergency landing on Friday due to a malfunction with the door.
The Boeing 737, which took off from Milwaukee after a campaign event, had to return for repairs shortly after takeoff but then continued on to Cincinnati, Vance’s home.
Vance, his wife Usha, their dog Atlas, campaign staff, and reporters were on board when the issue occurred.
The pilot reported the problem with the door seal, leading to the emergency landing. After fixing the issue, the plane resumed its trip to Cincinnati.
This incident follows a similar emergency landing by former President Donald Trump earlier this month.
The New York Times mentioned that some passengers were confused by the pilot’s announcement and only realized the seriousness of the situation after landing. The pilot later apologized for causing any alarm.
In May, Trump’s plane was involved in a minor incident when it hit a parked jet on a Florida runway. No injuries were reported, and it was uncertain if Trump was on board at the time.
