The US military helped Israel stop a major missile attack from Iran by firing interceptor missiles at around 180 ballistic missiles aimed at Israel.

US President Joe Biden confirmed that he had given the order to assist Israel and said that the US was fully supporting Israel’s defense.

Biden mentioned that he spent the morning in the Situation Room, which is used for handling serious security issues.

The Pentagon reported that two US Navy destroyers launched the interceptors, but they haven’t confirmed if any of the Iranian missiles were hit.

The BBC explained that most of the Iranian missiles were intercepted by Israel’s defense systems.

The Iranian government said the attack was a response to the killing of key Iranian and Hezbollah leaders in recent days, and they defended the attack as a necessary action to protect Iranian interests.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called it a “decisive” move.

According to the BBC, President Biden warned that the US would discuss possible consequences for Iran but didn’t provide specific details yet.

The region is experiencing more violence, with the situation becoming more dangerous, something Biden had been trying to avoid.

The BBC mentioned that the US has been providing continuous military support to Israel while working on diplomacy to calm the conflict.

However, with this latest missile attack, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps warned against further military involvement to support Israel.

The BBC also reports that the Iranian attacks were a direct response to the deaths of senior leaders of Hezbollah, Hamas, and an Iranian commander, with Iran blaming Israel for these killings.

This shows how much the conflict has escalated, according to BBC sources.
