A big leader from a group in Iran’s support got killed by a US robot plane in Baghdad. This leader, plus two of his guards, died when their car got attacked.
The US army says this leader was planning attacks on American soldiers in the area. They say this group did an attack with a robot plane last month in Jordan, which killed three US soldiers. After that, the group said they won’t attack Americans anymore to not cause trouble for Iraq. But now, this big attack happened in Baghdad.
It was a direct hit on a moving car in a busy place, and the car burned up. They say one of the dead people was a top leader in the group. The US army did this attack at night, and they say no innocent people got hurt.
When BBC reporters went there, many angry people were shouting against America. Some even stopped the reporters from getting close to the burned car. There’s talk that people might protest at the US embassy. This attack comes after the US did many other attacks in Syria and Iraq because of the one last month.
The US president says these attacks are just the start. This new attack in Baghdad shows the US is getting more serious. Other groups in Iraq are saying they’ll hit back at the US.
These attacks on US troops have been happening almost every day since October. In January, the US hit another big leader from another group doing these attacks. The US has lots of soldiers in Iraq and Syria to fight against ISIS.
