The U.S. and Kenya plan to hold new trade talks next month to boost economic ties, following a visit from Kenyan President William Ruto to Washington.

During the visit, the White House promised new tech, security, and debt relief partnerships. U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo encouraged business leaders to continue their efforts in Africa and Kenya.

Next month, from June 3 to 7, trade negotiations will take place in Mombasa. Ruto highlighted Google’s increased investments and new tax policies to attract foreign investment. Google’s Ruth Porat announced a project to build a fiber optic route connecting Africa with Australia.

Ruto also shared plans to boost local tech firms and startups, including tax breaks for manufacturing electric vehicles. The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation is providing loans to support electric vehicle production in Kenya.

Additionally, Kenya and Microsoft signed a deal to build a $1 billion datacenter, which will enhance internet access for 20 million Kenyans.
