UK Voters Ready for July General Election

Millions in the UK are preparing to vote in the first July general election since 1945. Polling stations, open from 07:00 to 22:00 BST on Thursday, will allow around 46 million voters to choose 650 members of Parliament.

The goal for political parties is to win 326 seats for a majority.

New constituency boundaries have adjusted the number of MPs in different areas, with England gaining 10 seats and Wales and Scotland losing a few.

Voters must show photo ID, a new rule for this election.

Results will be announced through the night and into Friday morning. This election was called by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in May.
