Amazon Prime Video in the UK will start showing ads from February 5, 2024.
Customers can pay £2.99 per month to remove ‘limited’ ads.
Amazon states this move will help invest in more content. Even with ad removal payment, live content like sports will still have ads. US and Canada see ads from January 29, expanding to more countries later.
BBC reports UK customers pay more than Germany. Amazon recently increased Prime prices. Ads follow Amazon’s plans for Warhammer 40,000 shows and other content.
Disney+ and Netflix also introduced ad-supported options.
