Donald Trump says Iran has made failed attempts on his life
Donald Trump has been informed by U.S. intelligence about threats from Iran to kill him, according to his campaign. They mentioned that these threats aim to create chaos in the U.S. However, they did not clarify if these threats are new or have been previously reported.
Trump shared on X (formerly Twitter) that there are serious threats against his life from Iran. He mentioned that Iran has tried to attack him before but failed, and he believes they will attempt it again. He also expressed gratitude to Congress for increasing funding for the Secret Service to help protect him.
The campaign’s communications director, Steven Cheung, stated that intelligence officials have noticed an increase in coordinated threats in recent months. He reassured that law enforcement agencies are working together to keep Trump safe and ensure the election process remains unaffected.
This news follows an assassination attempt on Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, where he was injured and another person was killed. While U.S. media reported that officials received intelligence about a possible Iranian plot against Trump afterward, Iranian officials denied these allegations, calling them malicious.
Trump has previously stated that if he were to be assassinated, he hopes the U.S. would retaliate strongly against Iran. Recently, a man named Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested near Trump’s golf course and charged with attempting to assassinate a presidential candidate, but there is no indication that Iran was involved in this incident or the earlier one.
In the past, Iranian operatives were also connected to plots against former U.S. officials, including Trump’s former National Security Advisor John Bolton.
This history highlights ongoing tensions between Trump and Iran, particularly following the U.S. killing of Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani in 2020【BBC】.
