The reason why former President Barack Obama’s personal chef, Tafari Campbell, died has been found out a month after his sad passing.

Timothy McGuirk, who speaks for the Public Safety and Security Office in Massachusetts, told the Boston Globe that the 45-year-old chef accidentally drowned.

Campbell left us on July 23 while he was paddleboarding close to the Obama family’s house in Martha’s Vineyard.

The State Police said that Campbell was on his paddleboard when he lost his balance and fell into the water. He tried to stay above the water but eventually went under. Campbell didn’t have a life jacket on and wasn’t attached to his board. They found his body in water that was about eight feet deep.

The police mentioned that someone saw Campbell struggling in the water but couldn’t save him. They did manage to notify Secret Service members. A trained swimmer also tried to rescue the chef, but unfortunately couldn’t.

The reports say that boats were quickly used to search the pond, and divers looked for him nearby. They also searched on foot around the area. The police even went door-to-door at nearby properties, just in case Campbell had somehow made it to land and needed help.

The morning after he drowned, divers discovered his body. They found it about 100 feet away from the shore.
