Suzanne Somers’ husband, Alan Hamel, has revealed that the actress recently faced another battle with cancer. Concerns arose among her fans when she did not appear on her well-known Facebook Live show. Hamel, a Canadian entertainer, has shed light on his wife’s ongoing health challenges, sharing that she has fought various forms of cancer throughout her life, including breast cancer in her 50s and skin cancer in her 30s.
According to Alan Hamel, Suzanne Somers has been living with cancer throughout her entire life. In her 20s, she also had to deal with two hyperplasia cases, which are considered precursors to cancer. Recently, she faced another bout with cancer, but as of June 6, she received an all-clear diagnosis. However, given the unpredictable nature of cancer, they will continue to closely monitor her health going forward.
Hamel emphasized that Suzanne’s dedication to a chemical-free and organic lifestyle, supported by bio-identical hormones, has been crucial in helping her stay alive, as her doctors have pointed out that without these measures, her life would have been at risk.
Following her breast cancer diagnosis in 2000, Suzanne Somers made her well-being a top priority by adopting healthier lifestyle habits. These changes included getting adequate sleep, transitioning to an all-organic diet, and eliminating beauty and food products containing chemical ingredients from her routine.
In a 2021 interview with Park, she expressed her satisfaction with this transformation, stating that embracing a healthy lifestyle has brought immense joy to her life. She appreciates her appearance, energy, and overall well-being. Suzanne firmly believes that aging can be a remarkable journey if approached with the right mindset and a willingness to put in some effort.
The Three’s Company star revealed that she battled cancer multiple times during the filming of the famous 1970s-80s sitcom. She expressed concerns that birth control pills, which she began taking in the ’60s, might have played a role. One of the health issues she faced was severe hyperplasia in her uterus, which she didn’t make a fuss about. Additionally, in her 30s, she also had a malignant melanoma on her back, as she shared in an interview with CBS in 2020.
Despite being in remission from cancer, Hamel stated that they have chosen to prioritize the actress’s health over work for the time being. It was also revealed that she is still recovering from a previous incident in 2020 when she had a fall at her residence, necessitating surgery.
“He mentioned that she suffered a severe injury, fracturing her neck in a dreadful accident. The resulting concussion led to a serious case of hydrocephalus, affecting her balance and ability to walk,” he shared.
During Somers’ absence, her Facebook show transformed into a heartwarming family endeavor. It is now hosted by her son Bruce Somer Jr.’s wife and her daughter-in-law, Caroline Somers, along with Caroline’s adult daughters and Hamel’s own daughter, Leslie Hamel
In May, Somers revealed the reasons for declining a hosting position on The View, citing entirely different factors that led her to step away from other shows in the past.
