Devastating floods in Somalia claim the lives of 96 people, according to the country’s disaster management agency.

The heavy rains, influenced by climate patterns El Nino and Indian Ocean Dipole, have triggered the worst flooding in decades, displacing 700,000 people.

The United Nations reports on the dire situation, worsened by years of insurgency. In neighboring Kenya, 76 lives have been lost to floods, causing widespread displacement and destruction.
