The superstar athlete is also celebrating her triumphant return to the sport.
Simone Biles is thrilled to have a whopping five gymnastics moves named after her.
The Olympic gymnast celebrated the milestone on Instagram, accompanying her message with photos from last week’s Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, where she placed first.
She wrote, “world championships!!!!! whew Antwerp will always hold a special place in my heart. The first time I got a skill named after me was in this arena & 10 years later I got my 5th skill named…I’m speechless. I’m honored. I’m excited and I’m blessed!”
Biles looked back at where her passion stems from, adding, “doing it for the little girl who fell in love with the sport!!!!!” She ended the caption thanking fans for “all the love & support.”
The 26-year-old’s first move named after her was the Biles on Floor, which is a double layout with a half twist. Then there’s the Biles II on Floor (which is a double backflip with a triple twist), a Biles on Beam (a double twisting with a double backflip dismount), Biles on Vault (a Yurchenko half-on with two twists), and Biles II on Vault (a Yurchenko double pike).
It’s been a triumphant year for Biles. After taking a two-year hiatus from the sport after suffering from what gymnasts call the “twisties,” a mental block that affects performances, she recently returned to the mat. With her Artistic Gymnastics World Championships win, she’s back on track as one of the sport’s current greatest athletes.
Plus, on a more personal level, she married hubby Jonathan Owens earlier this year and has been enjoying their new life together.
