American actor and comedian Martin Mull, famous for roles in “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” and “Roseanne,” has died at 80.
His daughter, Maggie Mull, shared on social media that he passed away at home after a long illness. She remembered him for his wide-ranging creative talents and his humor, even in his Red Roof Inn commercials.
Mull’s career began with a notable role in the 1976 show “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman,” leading to spin-offs. He starred as Colonel Mustard in the 1985 film “Clue” and voiced Red Roof Inn ads around that time.
In the ’90s, he was known for playing Leon Carp on “Roseanne” and Principal Willard Kraft on “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.” He also appeared on “Arrested Development” and many other TV shows.
Mull’s talents extended to music and painting. He studied painting and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design. He considered his acting career a “day job” that supported his passion for painting. He is survived by his daughter Maggie, his wife Wendy Haas, whom he married in 1982.
