Winter is coming, and with it comes a new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race! MTV decided to make a 16th season of the famous drag queen competition after Season 15 did really well. This means a bunch of new contestants will be joining the competition to try and win the title.

We don’t know yet who will be in the competition or which judges are coming back. We’ll have to wait and see. Also, we’re not sure if The Real Friends of WeHo will cause any delays like before. We’ll learn more in the next few months. Here’s what we know about the new season up till now.

What is the release date for RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16?

We don’t know when Season 16 will start yet. However, the last three seasons all began in the first week of January. So, it’s probable that Season 16 will start early in 2024.

Who is in the cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16?

No official cast has been announced yet. The cast list, along with the season’s trailer,  usually drops in the weeks right before the season begins. 

How many seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race are there?

The U.S. RuPaul’s Drag Race has had fifteen seasons. The upcoming one will be the 16th. Additionally, there have been eight seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars and many seasons in other countries.

Is there a trailer for RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16?

Not yet. One will likely drop closer to Season 16’s premiere date. 

How do I watch RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16?

Like Season 15, Season 16 of RuPaul’s Drag Race will air on MTV with episodes made available to stream on MTV’s website the next day. Episodes will not arrive on Paramount+ until months later. 

Will RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 include Untucked

Yes. When MTV announced that Drag Race was renewed, they also announced a new season of Untucked to accompany it. Untucked will likely air on MTV after episodes of the regular show. 

How long will episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 be? 

MTV hasn’t said how long Season 16 episodes will be, but they’ll probably be 90 minutes each. Afterward, there might be a 30-minute episode of Untucked. Season 15 started with shorter hour-long episodes because of The Real Friends of WeHo, but fans didn’t like it. So, they changed it back to 90 minutes. When Season 15 came out on Paramount+, they edited all the episodes to be 90 minutes long.

What time will RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 air? 

MTV has not announced the airtime yet, but if it follows past seasons, it will air at 8 p.m. ET on Friday nights with Untucked following at 9:30 p.m. ET. 

Who won RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15? 

Sasha Colby was the Season 15 winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She’s a well-known transgender queen and was a strong contender right from the beginning. People often call her “the drag queen that other drag queens love.” In the final lip sync battle, she defeated Anetra and became the champion.

Will RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 air on MTV?

Yes. Episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 will air on MTV. When and where they will be made available to stream later is unclear. 

Will RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 air on Paramount+?

It’s doubtful. RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars usually starts on Paramount+. The main show premieres on MTV. After Season 16 finishes airing, it will probably be on Paramount+ for streaming.

Will RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 air on Hulu?

No. While early seasons of the show have been available to stream on Hulu, none of the shows recent seasons have been available to stream there. 

Will RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 air on VH1? 

No. Previous seasons of Drag Race did air on VH1, but the franchise moved to MTV for Season 15 and will remain there for Season 16.
