Robert F. Kennedy Jr. drops his presidential bid and supports Trump.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a former Democratic presidential candidate, has quit his campaign and endorsed Donald Trump. At a rally in Arizona, Trump praised Kennedy, calling him “phenomenal.”

Kennedy, who comes from the famous Kennedy family, said he left the Democratic Party because he felt it no longer represented his values and decided to support Trump.

He also plans to withdraw his name from ballots in key states where he might affect the election outcome.

Kennedy’s support for Trump has upset his family, who see it as a betrayal. His sister, Kerry Kennedy, called it a “sad ending” to a troubling situation.

Despite this, Kennedy said he feels at peace with his decision and believes Trump’s promise to negotiate an end to the Ukraine war is a key reason for his support. However, some Democrats view Kennedy’s endorsement as insignificant.

Kennedy’s campaign faced challenges, with his popularity dropping as the election approached. He had hoped to influence the election but now sees supporting Trump as the best path forward.

His move highlights the difficulty of breaking into the U.S. two-party system, according to BBC’s Merrill Matthews.
