Original AC/DC Drummer Colin Burgess Passes Away at 77: Band Mourns Loss on Social Media

Colin Burgess, the first drummer for iconic Australian rock band AC/DC, has sadly passed away at the age of 77, as announced by the band on their official Instagram account.

The news was accompanied by a touching tribute and a throwback photo of Burgess.

The cause of his death has not been disclosed. In their social media post, the band expressed their sadness and remembered Burgess as a respected musician and their initial drummer.

They shared “happy memories” and bid him farewell with the heartfelt message, “Rock in peace, Colin.”

Burgess played a pivotal role as the drummer when AC/DC was formed in 1973, alongside founding members Dave Evans, Larry Van Kriedt, and brothers Angus and Malcolm Young.

Unfortunately, Burgess’ time with the band was cut short in 1974 due to alleged on-stage behavior under the influence, leading to his dismissal.

Despite the setback, Burgess temporarily filled in for the band’s new drummer Phil Rudd in 1975. However, he never returned as a permanent member.

In addition to his contributions to AC/DC, Burgess played drums for The Masters Apprentices from 1968 to 1972. In 1988, he was honored with induction into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame.

Our condolences go out to Colin Burgess’s family, friends, and fans as we reflect on the legacy of this influential musician. (Source: Parade)
