Hezbollah Reports Senior Commander’s Death in Suspected Israeli Strike.
Hezbollah, a powerful group in Lebanon, has stated that one of its commanders, Wissam Tawil, was killed in a strike in southern Lebanon, believed to be conducted by Israel.
Tawil was part of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force. Israel has not commented on the incident but acknowledged hitting Hezbollah targets in response to cross-border attacks.
The clashes have heightened concerns about a broader regional conflict. Hezbollah, backed by Iran, holds significant military and political influence in Lebanon, designated as a terrorist organization by Israel, the UK, and others.
The situation escalated as Hezbollah confirmed Tawil’s death, describing him as a “commander.” The group also reported firing at Israeli forces in different areas.
Israel’s military mentioned striking various Lebanese territories, responding to an anti-tank missile launched toward Kiryat Shmona.
The cross-border violence in recent months has resulted in casualties on both sides, raising fears of a full-scale war.
The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, is working to de-escalate tensions in the region during his meetings with Arab leaders.(Source: BBC)
