Gianfranco Torres-Navarro, a wanted gang leader from Peru, has been arrested in New York, according to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Torres-Navarro, 38, was detained after entering the US illegally from Mexico. He is known for leading the Los Killers gang and is on Peru’s most-wanted list.
ICE officials arrested him in Endicott, New York, following a targeted operation. Before this arrest, he had been apprehended on May 16 for entering the US unlawfully and had been given a notice for immigration court. Torres-Navarro is being held in a federal detention facility while his immigration case is processed.
Authorities say Torres-Navarro, also known as Gianfranco 23, is considered a serious threat to public safety. He reportedly fled Peru after allegedly murdering a retired police officer. His capture underscores efforts to prevent dangerous individuals from finding refuge in the US, as reported by BBC.
