Nigeria’s President Tinubu has halted a proposed tax on electronic banking transactions due to public backlash, according to Information Minister Mohammed Idris.

The tax, intended to fund cybersecurity measures, was criticized by many Nigerians who argued it would burden them.

President Tinubu has ordered a review of the implementation plan by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Despite the country’s economic challenges, the government is sensitive to the concerns of its citizens.
