Mel B, known for her role in the Spice Girls, will be granted an honorary doctorate by Leeds Beckett University for her advocacy work supporting survivors of domestic abuse.

The singer has been vocal about her own experience with abuse, which led her to become a patron of Women’s Aid and receive an MBE for her charitable efforts.

Speaking about the upcoming award, Mel B expressed pride in achieving this honor from her hometown university, where she has also pursued studies in trauma-informed care.

Reflecting on her journey, she shared how leaving her abusive marriage prompted her to reset her life, including moving back in with her mother due to financial challenges.

Despite her public success, she has faced personal hardships and aims to use her platform to raise awareness about domestic abuse issues.
