A Boeing aircraft mechanic claims he was fired for raising safety concerns about the manufacturing and maintenance of crucial parts on Boeing 787 planes.

Richard Cuevas, who has decades of experience in aviation, reported issues with substandard work on the aircraft’s forward pressure bulkhead.

He alleges that after voicing concerns, he was dismissed by his employer, Spirit Aerosystems, and labeled a “snitch” by colleagues.

Lawyers representing Cuevas have filed complaints with federal safety authorities, accusing Boeing and Spirit of failing to address serious safety risks.

Boeing responded, stating they thoroughly investigated the concerns and found no safety issues, while Spirit Aerosystems said they are looking into the matter and encourage employees to report concerns without fear of retaliation.

This case adds to ongoing scrutiny over Boeing’s safety culture, following previous whistleblower allegations in the aviation giant.
