“Man Found Guilty of Using His Son to Kill Rapper PnB Rock”
Freddie Trone, 42, was found guilty in Los Angeles on Wednesday of sending his 17-year-old son to kill rapper PnB Rock. Trone faces charges of murder, robbery, and conspiracy related to the rapper’s death in September 2022.
PnB Rock, whose real name was Rakim Hasheem Allen, was shot and killed at a Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles restaurant in LA while dining with his girlfriend. The teen, wearing a ski mask, demanded PnB’s jewelry and shot him before fleeing with the help of Trone, who was accused of driving the getaway car.
The prosecution argued that Trone orchestrated the crime to steal jewelry worth around half a million dollars. Trone’s defense claimed he was not involved and said race played a role in his conviction.
Another man, Tremont Jones, was also convicted for his role in the robbery. Both Trone and Jones are set to be sentenced in late August.
The rapper’s girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, expressed her grief on social media, noting PnB Rock’s bravery during the attack. Tributes from fellow artists, including Drake and Nicki Minaj, poured in after his death.
PnB Rock was known for hits like “Selfish” and had recently released his final song, “Luv Me Again,” shortly before his death. For more details, see BBC’s coverage.
