Kenya’s President William Ruto has decided to withdraw a finance bill that included controversial tax increases following violent protests, including an attack on parliament.

He acknowledged that the public strongly opposes the bill and pledged to engage in dialogue with the protesting youth.

His initial defiance was replaced by a concession, marking a significant reversal driven by widespread public opposition.
