Death Toll Rises to Six in Nairobi Gas Blast: BBC Reports
The number of people who died in a big gas explosion in Nairobi has gone up to six, officials say. Two more passed away from their injuries on Sunday while getting treated at Kenyatta National Hospital.
Fifty-two others are getting medical care in different hospitals.
The explosion happened when a truck carrying gas cylinders blew up in a crowded part of the city just before midnight, starting many fires.
Officials say the place where they filled the gas was illegal and had been taken down twice before.
Kenyan police are looking for seven people linked to the explosion, including Derrick Kimathi, who is said to own the gas plant.
President William Ruto blamed careless and corrupt government workers for letting the plant be in a place where people live.
