Israel is facing increasing international concerns over its planned military operation in Rafah, a city in southern Gaza heavily populated with Palestinian refugees.
The UK Foreign Secretary and the Dutch Foreign Minister have expressed worry about potential civilian casualties, while Saudi Arabia warned of serious consequences if Rafah is attacked.
Hamas, the rulers of Gaza, also warned of potential casualties. The Israeli Prime Minister has ordered preparations for evacuating civilians from Rafah before launching a wider offensive against Hamas.
However, the US, EU, and UN have all voiced concerns about such an invasion, warning of potential disasters and humanitarian crises.
Aid groups fear that it may not be possible to evacuate all civilians from Rafah, where approximately 1.5 million Palestinians seek refuge from the conflict in the rest of Gaza.
