Ghana’s Economy Grows 5.5% as Agriculture and Services Lead the Recovery – Reuters Report.

Ghana’s economy grew by 5.5% in the third quarter of 2025, mainly because agriculture and services performed strongly, Reuters reports. According to Reuters, this growth happened even though the industrial sector slowed down and expanded by only 0.8%, which pulled the overall growth lower compared to the 7.0% seen in the same period last year.

Reuters explains that Government Statistician Alhassan Iddrisu said farming activities—especially fishing and crop production—helped push agricultural growth to 8.6%. Reuters also adds that the services sector, including finance, insurance, trade, and education, grew by 7.6%, showing strong activity across many everyday services.

According to Reuters, Iddrisu noted that agriculture played an unusually large role in boosting the economy, describing it as a sector that is recovering fast and adding real strength to Ghana’s total economic output.

Reuters further reports that non-oil GDP grew by 6.8%, slightly lower than the 7.8% recorded last year.

Reuters says Ghana is slowly recovering from one of its worst economic crises in decades. Inflation has been falling for 11 straight months, reaching 6.3% in November—its lowest level since the 2021 economic rebasing. Because of this positive trend, Reuters confirms that the Bank of Ghana reduced its main interest rate by 1,000 basis points this year, showing confidence that inflation will drop even more.

From a unique perspective, this new data shows that ordinary economic activities like farming, trading, schooling and everyday services are now carrying Ghana’s economic comeback, not just big industries or oil production. Reuters’ reporting highlights that the heart of the economy—the daily work of farmers, market traders and service providers—is what is keeping the country moving forward.

This also shows a possible shift in Ghana’s economic future: if agriculture and services continue rising while inflation keeps going down, the country may enter a more stable and predictable growth path, according to trends described by Reuters.
