France Says ‘Skip the Black Friday Clothes’ in New Eco Campaign”

The French government, led by sustainability advocate Christophe Béchu, encourages people to avoid buying new clothes on Black Friday for the sake of the planet and personal finances.

However, Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire criticizes the campaign, calling it “ill-conceived” and potentially harmful to businesses amid economic challenges. Béchu admits the focus may have been wrong, targeting physical businesses instead of online platforms.

Despite criticism, the ads promoting sustainable practices, including a repair bonus for clothing fixes, will continue. Industry groups threaten legal action, urging positive communication on fashion sector transformation.
