Myrtle Brown’s second son, Nick, posted a heartfelt message on social media.
Sergio Brown, a former NFL player, is still missing. His mother, Myrtle Brown, was found unconscious near a stream close to her house in Maywood, a suburb of Chicago. Sadly, she has been confirmed to have passed away. Police discovered her body on Saturday evening after searching for both Myrtle, who was 73 years old, and her 35-year-old son, Sergio. According to CBS News, Myrtle Brown was found approximately “100 yards from her home.” The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office informed NBC News via email that her death is being investigated as a homicide, as she suffered “multiple injuries due to assault.
Myrtle’s son, who used to be on the Buffalo Bills team, is still missing. The police are urging anyone who knows something to reach out to Maywood Police or local authorities. They can also give information anonymously at 708-450-1787.
Myrtle’s other son, Nick Brown, posted a touching message on Facebook on Sunday. In it, he expressed his love for his mother and pleaded with his brother to return home safely.
“It’s a time of sorrow, but also a time to hold on to hope. We’ll support each other and overcome this. Mom used to say, ‘difficult moments don’t stay forever.’ Our talk about tough times being temporary is what keeps me hopeful.
He went on to say: “Mom, I’m grateful for your strength, kindness, hard work, style, sense of humor, and for keeping my artwork safe. I promise to make you proud. My brother Sergio is still missing. If anyone knows where he is, I want him to know that I care about him and to please return home.
He advised people not to go near the property because the investigation is still happening.
Myrtle’s passing was a surprise to her neighbors. Carlos Cortez told CBS News that she was “an amazing woman, and I hope she’s in a good place, with God.
I never imagined this happening, not even in my wildest dreams. You usually see this on TV. Knowing it happened right next door is heartbreaking,” Cortez said. He mentioned that he saw the mother and son last on Thursday.
Cortez said his Ring camera recorded Sergio disposing of garbage and having a fire where he burned all of her clothes.
He also said that family members told him Sergio hadn’t been acting like himself in recent months.
Before he retired in 2017, Sergio, who was part of Notre Dame and later signed with the New England Patriots in 2010, played for the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars in different defensive positions like defensive back, free safety, and strong safety.
