The ex-wife of Ghana’s former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Theresa Kufuor, has passed away at the age of 87. She died at home on Sunday, October 1. An official announcement about this sad event is expected to be made on Monday, October 2. Mrs. Kufuor was Ghana’s First Lady from January 7, 2001, to January 6, 2009.
Theresa Kufuor became the First Lady when her husband, John Agyekum Kufuor, became president after Jerry John Rawlings. While she was First Lady, she started a foundation called Mother-to-Child Community Development. This foundation worked to help children grow up healthy and stop diseases from passing from mothers to their children.
Theresa and John Kufuor got married when he was 23 years old after they met at a special dance event in London in 1961.
