“Charlie Robison, a famous country singer and songwriter, has passed away. He died in San Antonio, Texas, on Sunday, September 10, at 59 years old. A family spokesperson confirmed that he suffered cardiac arrest and other health issues at the hospital. His wife, Kristen Robison, shared the sad news on Facebook, saying, ‘With great sadness, I tell you my husband, Charlie Robison, passed away today, surrounded by loved ones.’
“My heart is shattered. Please pray for me, our kids, and our family,” she added.
Robison started making music in the 1980s in small bands. Then, in 1996, he released his first solo album, “Bandera.” It was named after the town where he grew up on his family’s ranch.
Charlie Robison’s last album, “High Life,” came out in 2013. His 2001 album “Step Right” had his only big hit, “I Want You Bad.”
In 2018, he retired because of a surgery that had complications, making it so he couldn’t sing anymore. He shared this on Facebook and thanked his fans for their support over the past 25 years.
He leaves behind his wife, stepchildren, and son, Jett James, born in February 2020. He also has three children with his ex-wife Emily Strayer, a member of The Chicks: Charles “Gus” Augustus, 20, and 18-year-old twins Julianna Tex and Henry Benjamin.
