Canada’s Immigration Minister Marc Miller has expressed strong disapproval of a terror plot involving a father and son.

The government is considering whether to take away the citizenship of the man accused of planning the attack in Toronto.

Last month, Canadian police arrested Ahmed Eldidi, 62, and his son, Mostafa Eldidi, 26, for allegedly plotting a serious attack for the Islamic State group.

They face charges of terrorism, conspiracy to commit murder, and weapons possession, including an axe and a machete.

Miller stated that he feels a deep sense of disgust and has a duty to thoroughly investigate the situation. He plans to examine the evidence to determine if the accused’s citizenship should be revoked.

The father is a Canadian resident with a past assault charge, while the son is not a Canadian citizen. The Canadian government can revoke citizenship if someone has lied about their history.

Police say the Eldidis were close to carrying out their planned attack, but details of the plot and how it was uncovered remain undisclosed.

The House of Commons Committee on Public Safety and National Security has decided to question ministers about the Eldidis’ immigration records.
