Formerly known as the world’s carpet hub, Dalton, Georgia, is undergoing a major transformation with a $2.5 billion investment by Korean company Qcells to expand its solar panel factory.

This initiative is expected to create 2,500 new jobs in a region where household incomes lag well below the national average.

The project, fueled by President Biden’s 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, aims to boost American manufacturing in clean energy with substantial tax incentives and loans.

Despite these efforts, local sentiments in this Republican district remain mixed, reflecting broader debates over government subsidies and the future of clean energy initiatives in the upcoming presidential election.
