President Biden’s team plans to construct a part of the border wall in southern Texas to curb increasing immigration.

Around 20 miles (32km) of border wall will be constructed in Starr County, Texas, to address a high number of people crossing from Mexico. This goes against President Biden’s earlier promise not to build more wall. His administration defends the move, stating it’s using previously allocated funds for this purpose. The increase in illegal crossings is a challenging issue for the president, with over 245,000 incidents in the Rio Grande Valley this year alone. September is expected to set a new record. Some US cities are feeling the strain, with New York City estimating a $12 billion cost over three years to house the 100,000 new arrivals since last year. Mayor Adams is traveling to Mexico, Colombia, and Ecuador to discourage migrants from starting their journey. He stated, “We are at capacity.

President Biden’s homeland security secretary has emphasized the urgent need to build the new wall section to stop illegal entries.

To make this happen, many federal laws, including those related to environmental protection, have been set aside. This has upset environmentalists who believe it will harm endangered plants and animals.

The proposed barriers will include sturdy posts set in concrete, along with gates, cameras, and CCTV equipment, as per a plan from US Customs and Border Protection.

Funds secured during Donald Trump’s presidency will be used to construct this new section. This marks the first time the Biden administration has authorized new wall construction, which was a frequent practice during Trump’s tenure, resulting in about 50 miles of new wall and upgrades to 400 miles of existing barriers.

In an online message, Mr. Trump asked if the president would say sorry to him and America for taking so long to take action. He commented on how Biden is bending environmental rules to prove him right and said he’s waiting for an apology.

Biden is receiving more and more criticism for his immigration policies, especially with the recent increase in people entering the US. In August, the US Border Patrol caught 181,059 individuals at the southern border, up from 132,648 in July, according to the latest information.

Mexico’s president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, mentioned that last week alone, 10,000 people arrived at the border each day.
