AI software is changing the game for social workers by making their jobs easier. In a recent test, the software, called Magic Notes, helped social workers at Swindon Borough Council cut down the time they spent on paperwork by over 60%.

Instead of taking up to 90 minutes to complete an assessment, the time dropped to just 35 minutes, and writing up reports went from four hours down to only 90 minutes.

This software records conversations and automatically creates assessments, allowing social workers to spend more time having meaningful conversations with the people they help. Councillor Ray Ballman said Magic Notes has been “a game changer” for their work.

The pilot program involved 19 social workers and took place over 184 meetings from April to June, showing overwhelmingly positive results.

Social workers with challenges like visual impairments or learning disabilities also found the software made their work more inclusive and boosted their confidence.

Ms. Ballman mentioned they are now looking at how to use this technology even more to help their team and improve the care they provide.

This advancement highlights how AI can support professionals and create a better work environment, as reported by the BBC.
