Former NFL player Alex Collins, who played as a running back for the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens, died on Monday morning because of a sad motorcycle accident. He was 28 years old.

Collins’ family shared the news on August 14 through a statement released by the Seahawks team. The family expressed their sorrow and announced that Alex Collins had passed away.

“Alex was loved by his family, friends, and people from all over the world who supported him. Those who really knew him can confirm that he was very determined, had a strong will, and had a big personality.

His family ended by saying, ‘We hope you can think of us and pray for us while we’re going through this tough time. Please give us space as we deal with our sadness. We will let you know about the plans for his funeral when we have them.'”

Ravens’ coach John Harbaugh said about Collins, “Alex was a wonderful person to be around. He had a bright and positive personality that affected everyone he met.”

Originally from Florida, Collins was chosen in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL draft and started with the Seahawks. He played there for a year and then spent two years with the Baltimore Ravens.

He returned to the Seahawks in 2020 for one more season before retiring from the NFL. Earlier this year, he also played for the Memphis Showboats in the USFL, but got injured in May and couldn’t play anymore.
