African boxing champion Adam Olaore is gearing up for his Olympic debut, inspired by his role model, Anthony Joshua.

At just 22, Olaore has already made a name for himself in boxing, following a similar path to Joshua, who also has ties to Nigeria and England.

Olaore, born in Lagos and now based in England, won the English National Amateur Championships last year, just like Joshua did earlier in his career.

Olaore moved to England when he was six and has trained hard since then. Although he has lived in England for 15 years, he chose to represent Nigeria in boxing due to his residency status.

He became the African champion in his first international competition and qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Despite facing challenges, including having to switch to heavyweight after his original weight class was removed, Olaore remains focused on winning gold.

He believes a calm fighter can handle any challenge and is confident in his skills. Olaore has trained under Richard Stoneham at the Empire School of Boxing and has gained significant experience, including winning the African Games heavyweight title.

Olaore is determined to achieve more than Nigeria’s previous Olympic successes and aims to make a significant impact at the Paris Games. If he succeeds, he could become a celebrated figure in Nigerian sports history.

This story reflects his journey and the influence of boxing greats like Anthony Joshua, as reported by BBC.
