Grayson Murray, 2-Time PGA Tour Winner, Dies at 30

Professional golfer Grayson Murray, who recently won his second PGA Tour title in Hawaii, passed away on Saturday, May 25, at the age of 30. Scheduled to compete in the Charles Schwab Challenge, Murray withdrew on May 24 due to an unspecified illness. The PGA Tour confirmed his death the next day, though no cause was given.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan expressed deep sorrow, stating the tour feels like a family and is heartbroken by the loss. Despite the tragedy, the weekend’s tournament proceeded at the request of Murray’s parents, who believed he would have wanted it to continue.

Born in Raleigh, N.C., Murray turned professional in 2015 after attending Arizona State University. He secured his first PGA Tour victory in 2017 at the Barbasol Championship and his second earlier this year at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

The golfing community, including English pro golfer Luke Donald and Golf Channel host George Savaricas, expressed condolences and shared their grief on social media. Murray’s caddie, Jay Green, remembered him as a generous boss and a better friend, highlighting his thoughtful and caring nature.
