Unprecedented flooding in southern Brazil has caused widespread devastation, with rivers overflowing and entire towns submerged.

The disaster, described as the worst in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, has claimed at least 95 lives and left over 130 missing.

Around 1.4 million people are affected, facing shortages of drinking water and significant challenges in rescue efforts.

Criminal gangs have even hindered rescue operations by stealing boats.

The situation remains dire, with more rainfall expected in the coming days, posing further risks to the affected population.
