Jacob Zuma appeals against election disqualification

Former South African President Jacob Zuma has lodged an appeal against the country’s electoral commission’s decision to disqualify him from running in the upcoming elections.

Zuma, who served as president from 2009 to 2018, was barred from standing due to a prior prison sentence for contempt of court.

Despite this, he has joined a new political party and is challenging the decision, arguing that it violates his political rights.
