Putin celebrates Crimea’s “return” to Russia, disregarding international criticism.
In a speech following his claimed election victory, Putin addressed a crowd in Moscow’s Red Square, praising Crimea’s annexation as a significant event in Russia’s history.
He also announced plans for a new railway connecting Crimea to mainland Russia, emphasizing unity and strength.
Despite condemnation from Western nations, including the UK and the US, for the election’s lack of fairness, Putin received congratulations from China, India, and Saudi Arabia.
The election, labeled a “sham” by many, secured Putin’s position until at least 2030.
Concerns over irregularities in the voting process were raised, with opposition voices facing pressure, and independent observers barred.
