Janice Burgess, the creator of ‘The Backyardigans,’ has passed away at the age of 72, as confirmed by her friend Brown Johnson to The New York Times.

She battled breast cancer before her death in hospice care on March 2.

Burgess not only created ‘The Backyardigans’ but also contributed as a writer for Nickelodeon’s ‘Bubble Guppies’ and ‘Little Bill,’ earning an Emmy for the latter.

She leaves behind a legacy in children’s television, having also worked on beloved shows like ‘Blue’s Clues’ and ‘Gullah, Gullah Island.’

Fracaswell Hyman, a friend of Burgess, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, remembering her as a supportive colleague and friend.
