Apple has been fined €1.8bn (£1.5bn) by the EU for violating competition laws related to music streaming.

The European Commission found that Apple prevented streaming services from informing users of payment options outside its app store, abusing its dominant market position.

The decision follows a complaint by Spotify, highlighting Apple’s 30% fee and restrictions.

Apple plans to appeal, arguing there’s no evidence of consumer harm.

This ruling signals a push for fair competition in the tech sector as the EU introduces the Digital Markets Act to curb monopolistic practices.
