Mary Poppins’ Star Glynis Johns Dies at 100
Glynis Johns, the talented British actress known for her role as Mrs. Winifred Banks in the iconic 1964 Disney film ‘Mary Poppins,’ passed away at the age of 100 due to natural causes.
The news was confirmed by her manager, Mitch Clem, to The Hollywood Reporter. Johns, who also earned a Disney Legend title in 1998, was recognized for her memorable performance of “Sister Suffragette” in the beloved movie.
Beyond her contributions to cinema, Johns had a diverse career, earning a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for her role in ‘The Sundowners’ and winning a Tony Award for her work in the 1973 production of ‘A Little Night Music.’
She appeared in various films and TV shows, including her own sitcom ‘Glynis’ and a stint as a guest villain on ‘Batman.’
In her personal life, Johns, who was married four times, experienced the loss of her son Gareth Forwood in 2007.
