The happy pair met each other 24 years ago.

Vanessa Bryant is remembering the day she first met Kobe, celebrating their 24th anniversary. The 41-year-old shared an old photo on Instagram from that special day, with Kobe in a gray sports sweatshirt and Vanessa in a pink crop top, both looking happy.

In her post, she wrote, “24 years ago… Day 1. #1999 👑❤️ 11/27/99.” The photo seems like a scanned version of a cherished, slightly worn-out printed copy, adding a unique touch with scratches and scuffs.

It’s likely the first picture the couple ever took together, back when Vanessa, a 17-year-old dancer, met 20-year-old Kobe on the set of Snoop Dogg’s “Tha Eastsidaz” music video. However, the exact date is a bit uncertain.

Kobe previously shared the same picture on November 28, 2019, celebrating their 20th “meetaversary.” They had plans for an “old school style” date at Disneyland that night. Unfortunately, just two months later, tragedy struck as Kobe and their 13-year-old daughter Gianna lost their lives in a helicopter crash. Kobe was 41 years old.

Vanessa recently marked what would have been Kobe’s 45th birthday, expressing her love “always & forever” with a series of photos. She also announced a statue in his honor, to be unveiled at the Staples Center on Feb. 8, 2024. The statue will celebrate Kobe’s legacy and be placed at the heart of Los Angeles, in front of “The House that Kobe Built.” This information was sourced from Parade.
