Hunter Biden, the son of US President Joe Biden, will say he didn’t do anything wrong in a case about a gun he bought in 2018. This is what his lawyer has shared.
Hunter Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, wrote a letter to the judge saying that Hunter plans to say he didn’t do anything wrong. They also asked if his first court appearance could be done online.
Hunter Biden got in trouble because he had a gun while using illegal drugs and allegedly lied about it when he bought the gun. If he’s found guilty, he could go to prison for up to 25 years.
Hunter’s lawyer explained that he doesn’t want special treatment, but having a video hearing would be easier for everyone and cause less disruption.

Hunter’s legal team asked for a remote appearance last week, but the prosecutors didn’t agree. Now, the judge wants the request in writing by Tuesday, and the prosecutors have to respond by Wednesday.
The charges date from October 2018, when Hunter was struggling with addiction. He supposedly bought a gun on a whim, but didn’t admit to using illegal drugs on the application.
In June, there was almost a deal, but it fell through. If it had worked out, Hunter would have admitted to having the gun illegally and would have had to get treatment to avoid serious charges. He also would have admitted to not paying his taxes on time in 2017 and 2018.
