Tanella Alleyne passed away almost six years after her brother, Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, also left us.
Rihanna’s family has suffered another loss, as recent reports confirm. The singer’s cousin, Tanella Alleyne, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 28, as reported by Loop Barbados News. A memorial service to celebrate her life was held earlier this week. Family and friends gathered at St. George Parish Church on Monday, August 28, to say their final goodbyes to Tanella.
We’re not sure if the 35-year-old former Super Bowl headliner attended the service. There’s also no information available about what caused her cousin’s unexpected death.
Tanella passed away almost six years after her brother, Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, died tragically at the young age of 21. He was fatally shot in Barbados in December 2017.
Tanella had a twin sister named Taneisha who also passed away when they were just 14 years old, as reported by Page Six.
Rihanna has previously shared her feelings about losing Tavon, including in a 2021 Instagram post where she wrote, “I miss you and that smile, cousin,” along with a selfie of them together.
During Monday’s service, Tanella and Taneisha’s adoptive mother, Julie-Ann Bryan, emotionally delivered a video eulogy for her daughter, expressing, “Tanella lived a life filled with gratitude and an extraordinary amount of self-assuredness, infused with a strong sense of confidence.
“She was unique,” she continued, as reported by Loop News. “She had a fearless and brave spirit. Our love for each other was strong.”
Even though the situation is incredibly sad, the mourning mother expressed her thankfulness for having the opportunity to love “Taneisha for 14 years and Tanella for 28 years” before God “summoned them to heaven.”
