Donald Trump has chosen Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former Fox News host and strong supporter of his, to be the US ambassador to Greece.

Guilfoyle, 55, is also engaged to Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. She has a background in law, media, and politics, making her a key figure in Trump’s circle.

Before working with Trump, Guilfoyle was married to Gavin Newsom, the governor of California. In her new role, Trump praised her experience and said she was well-suited to strengthen ties with Greece on defense, trade, and economic matters.

Guilfoyle herself expressed excitement about supporting the Trump agenda and promoting peace and prosperity with Greece.

However, her nomination has sparked some controversy in Greece, particularly due to comments she made years ago.

In 2015, she criticized Greece’s financial crisis response, calling the Greek people “freeloaders” and making derogatory remarks.

The Greek government responded, emphasizing how the country has grown stronger since then and saying that Guilfoyle will be seeing a much-improved Greece in 2025.

Guilfoyle’s appointment is one of several picks by Trump, including other former Fox hosts. Her confirmation as ambassador will need approval from US senators.

While her relationship with Trump Jr. remains somewhat unclear due to recent tabloid speculation, her influence in the Trump family continues to grow .
