Explosions at a gas station in Romania Leave one Person Dead and 46 Injured

In Romania, there were two big explosions at a gas station. One person died, and 46 people got hurt. Among the injured, there were 26 firefighters who came quickly after the first explosion. This happened near the capital city, Bucharest, on Saturday evening.

Right after that, there was another explosion. This made a big cloud in the sky and caused a lot of shaking at the gas station in Crevedia.

Some of the injured people got seriously burned. About eight of them were hurt very badly. The plan is to send four of them to hospitals in other countries.

Because of the danger, people living within about half a mile (700 meters) were told to leave the area.

A person in charge of emergencies in Romania, Raed Arafat, said, “The place is still not safe. There might be another explosion from another tanker.” This was said to a news agency called AFP.

The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, called the explosions a “tragedy.” He felt very sad about what happened. He said that they needed to quickly check if any rules were broken. He also asked the people in charge to help the injured people right away. He wrote this on Facebook.
