A 12-year-old girl in Germany, Caity Cutter, was deeply inspired by Tamara Magwashu, a South African activist fighting period poverty.

After reading a BBC article about Magwashu’s efforts, Caity organized a large charitable donation to support her cause.

Shocked to learn that 30% of girls in South Africa miss school during their periods due to lack of sanitary products, Caity convinced her father to donate 500,000 pads to help.

This donation enabled Magwashu’s non-profit, Azosule, to expand its efforts in providing free sanitary products and education about menstrual hygiene to impoverished communities.

Magwashu, who grew up using rags and facing bullying, started Azosule to ensure no girl experiences what she did.

Her efforts are now reaching beyond South Africa, with plans to expand across the continent.

Caity’s contribution has been life-changing for many girls, helping them stay in school and maintain their dignity.

BBC reported the full story.
