Kathryn Hoedt, a young TV producer from California who worked for KRCA 3, a TV station in Sacramento, unfortunately passed away due to a tragic accident. She was only 23 years old.

KCRA 3, the TV station where Kathryn worked as a morning producer, was the first to share this sad news. They confirmed that she died on Saturday, August 12th, after falling from a rope swing into Folsom Lake in Sacramento. The accident happened around 12:30 p.m. on the shoreline north of Rattlesnake Bar.

Kathryn’s friends rushed her to the nearby Rattlesnake Bar boat ramp after the accident. There, a doctor who happened to be off-duty performed CPR in an attempt to help her.

After park rangers tried to help at the location, Hoedt was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. She was declared deceased there.

Derek Schnell, who is in charge of news at KCRA 3, expressed deep sadness about Hoedt’s unexpected passing. He mentioned that the whole team is feeling very upset about this news. This information comes from a report by the Sacramento Bee.

“He said she had a lively character. Her energy and laughter made the newsroom happy. When she laughed, others couldn’t help but smile too,” he said. “She was proud to work as a journalist and really cared about helping our community.”

“Katie had a promising future ahead of her, and her absence will be strongly felt,” Schnell also said about Hoedt. Hoedt earned a master’s degree from NYU when she was only 21 years old.”

The KCRA 3 News Team put up a tribute on their website for their team member who passed away. They called her Katie and mentioned that she used to handle the 8 a.m. newscast. They described her as having a lively and energetic character, and also mentioned that she really liked to read books.

Everyone at work thought Hoedt was one of the nicest people they had ever worked with. The KCRA 3 team is thinking of Katie’s family, the report said.
